Test, don't guess!
Functional labs are designed to identify hidden infections, food sensitivities, hormonal imbalances, the presence of toxic chemicals or heavy metals and nutritional deficiency. The testing does not diagnose disease; but rather helps to give insight into what factors are contributing to disease. It takes years and years of dysfunction before disease appears. By testing and addressing the underlying mechanisms that contribute to disease, your conditions can improve, and ultimately your quality of life will improve as well.
I always start by addressing digestion, even if the client does not report digestive distress. Without nutrient absorption, our body can not function properly. We need water, vitamins and minerals as co-factors for bodily processes. We need protein (amino acids) to build neurotransmitters for healthy mood regulation. We need proper fat digestion for optimal blood sugar balance and to build healthy hormones that regulate many glands and organs, with thyroid and sex hormones being at the top of that list. We need to be moving our bowels daily to rid the body of waste and toxins. I could go on and on...so trust me when I say, proper digestion is critical to optimal health.
In addition to focusing on the foundations of optimal health and well-being (good food, hydration, digestion, blood sugar/mineral balance and healthy fats), I can not stress enough how important it is to focus on sleep and stress management. It will be an uphill battle if they are not a priority. I'm here to help you find ways to support these two very important lifestyle issues. Daily movement is also highly recommended, and I make specific recommendations for each client depending on where they are in their health journey.
